If you eat Paleo or Whole30, you know that finding a sugar-free marinade is really hard! But its actually quite easy to make your own.
One of my favorite marinades is this Asian inspired marinade that combines fresh garlic and ginger, fish sauce, sesame oil and coconut aminos (a Paleo/Whole30 soy sauce substitute).
I start with a beautiful skirt steak from Moink (click here for a discount code to their amazing delivery service), then I add all of the ingredients into a glass baking dish, or a plastic zip-lock bag, rub the ingredients into the meat and then let it rest in the refrigerator for a few hours.
When you are ready to eat, simply pan fry or grill the meat to your desired temperature (being sure to discard any extra marinade). And don’t feel limited to using skirt steak! This quick and easy marinade goes perfectly with chicken, pork or any other cut of beef…and makes for the most wonderful stir fry or tacos!
- 1 Lb skirt steak
- ¼ Cup Coconut Aminos
- 1 Tbs ginger paste (or minced ginger)
- 1 Tbs Fish Sauce (I prefer Red Boat)
- 1 Tbs Sesame Oil
- 4 Cloves garlic, minced
- ½ Tsb Salt
- ½ Tsp Pepper
- Place the steak into a glass dish, and top with all of the other ingredients.
- Rub the ingredients onto both sides of the steak.
- Allow the steak to marinade in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours.
- Take the steak out of the refrigerator, 30 minutes before grilling.
- Heat your grill (or a grill pan) to medium/high heat.
- Cook on each side for 4-5 mins, depending on how you prefer you meat cooked. Rest for 5 mins before cutting.
